Designing Tips and DIY Ideas

Hope everyone had a wonderful Father's Day weekend!

This weekend I came across the lake house of Emily and Michael Knotts in North Carolina, feature here. I was in disbelief at how much they've accomplished with such little money. Truly a beautiful home with lots of DIY ideas that anyone can do.

Take a look and get inspired!

Living Room: Her 1920's cane sofa was a Craigslist find and upholstered in hardware store drop cloths. The curtains are linen and was a DIY project as well as the lighting fixture which was made from a simple socket and a garden lantern. The floors are plywood sub-flooring painted pale gray with porch paint. And of course the room is finish with a sea grass area rug, which is always the perfect piece for a casual and relaxed room.

Reading Nook: Driftwood shelving and a beautiful 1909 pull down map from ebay, make for a perfectly styled reading nook.

Living Room: A Restorartion Hardware clearance rack pillow complements the beautiful sofa.

Dining Room: A farmhouse table made from reclaimed lumber, yardsale find dining chairs painted in pale gray and a vintage bakers rack shelving unit, make for a beautiful space to entertain.

Home Office: Yard sale doors, plumbing pipes and casters make for a barn style entrance into the home office.

Home Office: A free door and basic iron pipes make for a unique desk.

Shelving: Plywood, paint and basic baskets from Target, make for great organization and extra storage.
