DIY Idea: Ceiling & Wall Treatment

Okay, so here's another one of those great DIY ideas. This time it was cleverly done using magazine tearsheets to cover the ceiling and wall, gives this room an interesting treatment.

My take on this, I feel this works for the space because images selected are all black and white which give it a  tone and consistent look, and  the furnishing in the office are kept to a minimal in neutral tones. Also notice the mirrors on both sides of the room, not only do they elongate the ceiling height, but they help bounce of light and add an openness to the space. Otherwise this will feel to dark with a low drooping ceiling.

Interesting treatment for the fashionista.

Kitchen DIY Backsplash

Check out this bright and simple kitchen, they used old recipes as wallpaper backsplash, very inexpensive and green idea. How easy is this, the same look can be achieved by using restaurant menus.

They have also extended the kitchen island by attaching a table top and legs, creating a lovely eating area with black & white classic "ant" chairs. For a pop of color they painted the table top and trim a bright yellow. A grand chandelier adds drama and defines the space, making it a beautiful and lovely kitchen.

Great DIY Idea

I came across this image, and thought "what a wonderful DIY idea". This isn't the first time I've seen this wall papered technique. I remember a couple years ago, while doing design work for Bar Marmont in West Hollywood, they had the same wall effect for one of their private back rooms. Wish I had a picture to show,  but the look was amazing and it worked wonderfully for the vibe of the restaurant.
